Oasis Movement Marches Further Ahead

It was a milestone for Oasis as the first Annual Retreat of new Oasis Movement Core Community (OMCC) was organized at Oasis Valleys from 4th to 6th December, 2015. Oasis Founders, Trustees, Patrons, Close friends, Youth Team and Teenagers - 70 friends, spanning 6 generations from 14 to 74 years, participated in the retreat.

This retreat celebrated multiple occasions of 25+ years of Oasis Movement, 22nd aniversary of Oasis Trust as well as inauguration of Oasis Valleys Institute. The primary agenda of the retreat was to evolve a common understanding about the vision of Oasis Movement, its values and principles and also to pass on this legacy to the young Oasis team. This retreat laid the foundation of next phase of expansion of Oasis Movement with new regional centers and exciting projects proposed by new teams & next generation of leaders. This includes new centers across Surat, Navsari, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad & Vadodara.

Six generations of Oasis associates - Founder Members, Beneficiaries (Adults, Youths, Teenagers & Children), Close Friends, Well-wishers and Patrons who were invited specially to be a part of the movement, met each other for the first time. Friends & representatives of Oasis Movement came from various parts of state & country and also from USA.

With heart full of gratitude, friends shared what role Oasis has played in bringing positive change in their life and what they have given or dream to give to kids. A heart moving sharing by all turned the group of friends into a beautiful community.

Shri Vijay Dalal & Dr. Pravin Shah flew down from USA specially to attend the retreat. Long time friend and well-wisher Shri Rajni Reshamwala from Mumbai, who have been a rock solid supporter to Oasis in its thick and thin, joined the retreat defying limitations of age. Shri Mahadev Desai, founder of Hu Chhu Jyotirdhar Movement was also present to support the new generation.

During the two days of the retreat, in attempt to understand Oasis Movement better, the community underwent a process of understanding different social movements of the world - how they were begun, who were the leaders and how was their style, why some movement flourished while some did not & died prematurely, how society responded to them and why, etc.

Oasis Movement Mapping - Know Present to Succeed in Future

After understanding about various social movements of the world, community did the process of understanding where Oasis Movement stands in comparison with them, how is Oasis Movement different - be it initiation, leadership, relation with fund, giving to society, visionary or not, what kind of challenges lie ahead and how we will face them.

Legacy of Core Principles & Values, Handed to Young Generation

In last more than 25 years, Oasis has seen lots of struggles and has bravely faced many storms. After every such occasion, Oasis has come out strong and tall due to its solid core based on Principles and Values. For the first time, these principles and values were documented systematically in the form of a small booklet and at the end of the retreat, it was handed over to the young generation of Oasis. This is the only true Legacy the founders would love to hand over.

Sharing Story of first decade of Oasis, Published in Magazine 'Jalso'

Written as an account of her association with Oasis, an article published in a gujarati magazine, 'Jalso', Kshama Kataria tells story of initial years of Oasis. It was very well appreciated by many writers and publishers as a balanced, mature and honest account of emerging youth movement, called 'Oasis'. The magazine was gifted to friends in the retreat.
