Exciting Opportunity to Interact with Henry Readhead,
Assistant Principal, Summerhill School, UK!
Dear Readers,
|
|
-
Is our education system really helping our country, or does it breed corruption and grade-factories?
-
Are our youths being led as model global citizens, or as irresponsible and self-centered individuals?
-
Is so much of disciplining in our schools benefitting students, or is it creating unhappy, frustrated and rebellious children?
-
Is our education system catering to one and all, or is it created only to feed the rat-race for false success through rote learning and mindlessness?
-
Are the present educational institutes spaces of sanctity or shops for buying degrees?
-
Are our teachers aiding children to be independent, life-long learners or pushing them into forced labour of competition?
-
Does the school system serve the unique needs of each child or is every child made to serve the needs of the school?

|
We are sure that this kind of questions would be arising in your mind too. We all want to explore what's an ideal educational system that really can benefit each and every child to become better, happy human being, as also sensitive, contributive members of community and responsible global citizens.
You might have heard of a revolutionary school Summerhill, England, founded in 1921 by A.S. Neill, one of the pioneers of democratic education in the world. It works with the belief that school should be made to fit the child than the other way round. It is one of the oldest and most famous democratic schools in the world and has influenced educational practices in many schools and universities across the globe. The school today is a thriving democratic community showing that children can learn to be self confident, tolerant, considerate when given the space to be themselves and trusted with the right to decide for themselves.
