Most of us are in a constant conflict about:
1. Should children be given freedom?
2. If given freedom will they not become irresponsible?
3. If given freedom will they not go on the wrong track?
4. Will they make the right choices?
5. What is the difference between freedom and license? Where do we draw the line?
Oasis Movement organized 2 workshops based on book "Swatantrata- Nahin Ke Swechchhachar!" (translation of "Freedom, Not License!", a book by A. S. Neill, an educationist from U.K.) to develop an understanding about the role of freedom in development of children and in the field of Education.
The first Freedom movement workshop was organized from 21 to 23 December, 2016 and was facilitated by Sheeba Nair (Trustee, Oasis) and Viral Patel (Real Estate Developer, Jala Group of Companies, Vadodara). 42 parents, teachers and school principals participated in this workshop.
Parul Sheth and Falgun Sheth from Shaishav Trust, Bhavnagar were invited as special guest faculties to share their rich experience of 22 years in the field of Child Rights. Shaishav is a volunteer organisation which believes that quality education is one of the most effective means to keep children out of the labour force and ensure child rights. They shared that if children are trusted and given freedom they come up with novel innovative solutions which are beneficial to all. Eg- One child couldn't pay fees. They thought of various options like a parent who could afford pays for that child. But in this case that parent is burdened and the child may feel obliged as well. They came up with another solution- Everybody's fee was increased by Re.1 to accommodate that child!

40 Teachers & Parents Participate In Second Workshop on "Captive Children of Free Nation"

Second similar workshop was facilitated by Mahadevbhai Desai (Founder of Hu Chhu Jyotirdhar Abhiyaan & Vanche Gujarat Abhiyaan, Navsari) and Mital Patel (Free-lance Designer, Surat) from 27 to 29 January, 2017. 40 participants attended this workshop at Oasis Valleys.
 Manish Jain, Co-founder of Shikshantar - The People's Institute for Rethinking Education and Development, Udaipur - was invited at Oasis Valleys to share his views and convictions from his research and experience in the field of Education System. They believe in building Learning Societies Network and in resisting the Factory Schooling Culture. |

A book reading workshop on 'Agharo Chhe Aa Prem Ne Aghara Chhe Aasheervad!' was organized at Oasis Valleys from 6 to 8 January, 2017. This workshop was attended by 37 participants. The workshop was facilitated by Sanjiv Shah (Oasis). Aatmaja Soni (2nd Year Student, B.A. Psychology, Vadodara) and Shabana Ansari (Student, 11th std. Humanities, Vadodara) were invited as special guests to share their journey of learning in Oasis.
