Oasis Leadership Camp is a program designed for children to initiate their learning about understanding of 'What is Leadership?'. During this camp, facilitators aim to recognize and bring out leadership qualities in children. They help the children to strengthen more leadership qualities. They also help them to practice these qualities in their daily lives though sharing of experiences and relating real life examples with principles.
As a part of the series of character building programs in partnership with Gram Nirman Kelavni Mandal, Thava, Oasis Leadership Camp was organized for students of various schools from Thava. 50 children attended this camp from 19 to 21 January, 2017 at Oasis Valleys which was facilitated by Aatmaja Soni and Mehul Panchal.

Feelings about Camp
“આ શિબિરમાં અમને નેતા કેવી રીતે બની શકાય તે શીખવા મળ્યું. એક નેતામાં હિંમત હોવી જોઈએ, બીજા પ્રત્યે લાગણી હોવી જોઈએ, તેણે ઈમાનદારીથી કામ કરવું જોઈએ અને બીજાની મદદ કરવી જોઈએ એવું અમે શીખ્યા. શિબિરમાં ઊભા થઈને બોલવાનું મને ગમ્યું હતું." - રાહુલ વસાવા, ધો. ૯
“આ શિબિરમાં અમે નાટક કર્યું અને આગળ ઉભા થઇને બોલવા ગયા તે મને ખૂબ જ ગમ્યું." - અંકિતા વસાવા, ધો. ૧૧
“આ કૅમ્પમાં આવીને હું બહુ જ ખુશ છું. અહીંની સ્વચ્છતા બહુ સારી છે. અમે પણ અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં, અમારા ઘરે અને અમારી શાળામાં આવી ચોક્ખાઈ રાખીશું." - સંધ્યા વસાવા, ધો. ૯
“આ શિબિરમાંથી મને શીખવાનું મળ્યું કે જીવનમાં હિંમતથી કામ કરવું જોઈએ. મુશ્કેલીઓનો સામનો કરી આગળ વધવાની તાકાત મને આ શિબિરમાંથી મળી અને એટલે મને આ શિબિર ખૂબ જ ગમે છે." - જિગીષા વસાવા, ધો. ૮
“મારી ઇચ્છા છે કે, ભવિષ્યમાં જો આ સંસ્થામાં કામ કરવાનો અવસર મળશે તો હું જરૂરથી સ્વીકારીશ. આ કૅમ્પ એક નેતા બનીને કઈ રીતે નેતૃત્વ કરવું તેના ઉપર હતો. તેથી હું જે કાંઈ પણ આ કૅમ્પમાં શીખવવામાં આવ્યું એ બીજાને શીખવવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરીશ. આ સંસ્થા આવી રીતે જ કામ કરતી રહે અને ભવિષ્યમાં ખૂબ જ આગળ જાય તેવી મારી શુભેચ્છા.” - અક્ષય વસાવા, ધો. ૧૧

Learning from the Camp
“આ શિબિરમાં અમે નેતા બનવાના ગુણો શીખ્યા. અમે શીખ્યા કે, એક નેતામાં ઈમાનદારી હોવી જોઈએ. નેતા બનવા માટે પહેલાં જાતે બદલાવું અને પછી બીજાને બદલવાની કોશિશ કરવી જોઈએ. આપણે આપણા ગામને, દેશને સ્વચ્છ રાખવાં જોઈએ. ગામના ગરીબ વિદ્યાર્થીઓની મદદ કરવી જોઈએ. આપણે હરવા-ફરવામાં વધારે ખર્ચો કરીએ છીએ તો તેના બદલે આપણે વિદ્યાર્થીઓની મદદ કરીએ તો આપણા વિસ્તારમાં ભ્રષ્ટાચાર અટકી શકે. નાટકમાંથી અમને એ શીખવા મળ્યું કે, હંમેશાં સત્યનો રસ્તો પકડવો જોઈએ અને ગમે તેટલી મુશ્કેલી આવે તો પણ હિંમત ન હારવી જોઈએ.” - ઉષા વસાવા, ધો. ૧૧
“આ શિબિરમાંથી અમે શીખ્યા કે આપણે દેશની સેવા કરવી જોઈએ, આપણે હંમેશાં સાચું બોલવું જોઈએ, આપણે સ્વચ્છતા રાખવી જોઈએ, આપણે હંમેશાં બીજા માટે વિચારવું જોઈએ- ફક્ત પોતાનું જ વિચારવું ન જોઈએ. અમને શિબિરમાંથી એ જાણવા મળ્યું કે આપણે દેશમાંથી ભ્રષ્ટાચાર કેવી રીતે દૂર કરી શકીએ. અમે એવું પણ શીખ્યા કે એક નેતા કેવો હોવો જોઈએ અને એનામાં કેવા ગુણો હોવા જોઈએ. આ ઉપરાંત, આપણે હંમેશાં કોઈ પણ કામ શ્રેષ્ઠતાપૂર્વક કરવું જોઈએ, આપણે વૃક્ષો વાવવાં જોઈએ જેથી હવા સ્વચ્છ થાય, આપણે હંમેશાં વૃદ્ધો અને ગરીબોની મદદ કરવી જોઈએ અને કેવી વ્યક્તિ આપણા દેશને ચલાવી શકે આ બધું પણ અમને શિબિરમાંથી શીખવા મળ્યું.” - કૈલાસ વસાવા, ધો. ૯

"આત્મજાદીદી અમને બધા સાથે મળીને ખુશીથી રહે તેવી વાર્તાઓ કહીને સંભળાવતાં હતાં. અને મેહુલભાઈ અમે ફિલ્મ જોઈએ અને એમાં કાંઈ સમજણ ન પડે તો સમજાવતા હતા." - હિના વસાવા, ધો. ૮
“મને આત્મજાદીદીનો બધા સાથેનો પ્રેમ ગમ્યો. તે બધા સાથે સારી રીતે વ્યવહાર કરે છે તે પણ ગમ્યું. મેહુલભાઈ પણ ગમ્યા. તેમનો આત્મવિશ્વાસ અમને ગમ્યો. તમે જેવો વ્યવહાર અમારી સાથે કર્યો એવો કોઈએ અમારી સાથે કર્યો નથી. મને આ સંસ્થા ગમે છે.” - કિમાવતી વસાવા, ધો. ૮

Young Movement Leaders Reconnect with Rajkot & Bhavnagar

On 26 January, 2017, a small reviving get-to-gather was organized at Rajkot. Pallavi Raulji, Trustee, OASIS, introduced the young member of Oasis Core team, Vatsala Shah to the Oasis beneficiaries of Rajkot.
Nearly a decade ago, Sanjiv Shah had facilitated Oasis workshop on MHS (Mahaan Hrudayona SaReGaMaPaDhaNi) that led to formation of a learning group called 'Sahsarjan'. This group comes together at every fortnight and shares changes in life, relationship and work.
Pravin Patel and Dushyant Nagodra, Businessmen, helped in organizing this event in which 25 people joined in.
With Vatsala Shah taking the lead, beneficiaries of Oasis Programs from Rajkot came forward to join hands for organizing camps for children and other Oasis programs. Oasis heartily thanks them all.
