At Oasis, our retreats mean a lot to us. For us, retreat is a period of time to pray and be with ourselves, away from monotonous activities and duties. We get so busy with our routine and responsibilities that we don't get much time to think about ourselves and what we're doing. Drifting away from the routine activities comes as a breath of fresh air.
Retreats give our volunteers and team members an opportunity to rejuvenate themselves and invoke the spirit to live with new perspectives and renewed determination. Retreats also give them a seldom opportunity to regroup, learn and celebrate.

Educators Learning the Importance of Freedom in a Child's Growth

During March 15 to 17, Dream India Camp retreat was organized at Oasis Valleys. Educators across the state came together, eager to understand the wonders freedom can make in children's life, in our education system and in the world.
Everyone, including the facilitators, volunteers and the children who were the beneficiaries of DIC, shared their remarkable DIC experiences. Powerful sharing by everyone strengthened everyone's belief in the concept of freedom.
At the end of the retreat, one could witness everyone's eyes filled with the dream of a world with freedom, happiness, equality and humanity. This retreat will surely take the children's freedom movement to another level.

“મારી શાળાનાંં બાળકોને 'નબળાંં છે' તેમ બોલવાનું બંધ કરીશ. તેમને જાહેરમાં કોઈ જગ્યાએ અલગ નામ કે ઓળખ નહીં આપતાંં સમાન ગણીશ અને તેમના સારા ગુણો માટે બિરદાવીશ. શાળામાં હવે ખોખલી-ઉપરછલ્લી શિસ્તબદ્ધતા નહીં પણ બાળકો પ્રેમથી પોતાની રીતે સ્વયંશિસ્ત જાળવતા શીખે તે માટે સ્વતંત્ર વાતાવરણ પૂરું પાડીશ.”

Where every child taking birth will attain his/her true purpose, and will relish the life meaningfully; where fearlessness, peace, fulfillment and growth go in harmony; where each individual will appreciate individuality of each being and have mutual respect for each other.
Where every individual, through his/her conduct, will emit honesty, love, selflessness, friendship, gratitude, independence, interdependence, freedom, bravery, courage, adventure, love for the mother land, harmony of character, equality, creativity, enthusiasm, universal brotherhood, transparency, purity.
Where every child will be of paramount importance and will be seen as a great person of the future.

Counselling Retreat Listening is Often the Only Thing Needed to Help Someone
Through self-learning processes of reading, discussing and questioning,
participants learnt how to behave with children
We always tell the children to listen to us, but do we ever truly listen to them?
The counselling retreat was organized to help all understand and practice what real counselling means. It was very fruitful & heart touching for all the ones involved. Whether it's their dreams, their problems, their crazy ideas; every child wants and needs to be listened to, for understanding & helping it grow in the most beautiful way possible.
We have to give them freedom & keep true faith in them & simultaneously, make them responsible too; as with freedom, responsibility follows.

"લાઇફ કૅમ્પ ફૅસિલિટેટર ટ્રેનિંગમાં ભાગ લીધો તેના દ્વારા બાળકોના પ્રૉબ્લેમ બાળકોની દૃષ્ટિથી જોતા શીખ્યા, સાથે ઘરથી લઈને શાળા જેવી બીજી ઘણી જગ્યાએ બાળકોને તકલીફો છે એ જાણ્યું. આ બધી જ બાબતોની બાળકોના ઘડતર પર કેટલીય સારી-નરસી અસરો થતી હશે તે જોવાની દૃષ્ટિ મને મેહુલભાઈ પાસેથી મળી. અને હું શીખી કે જો બાળકો માટે કામ કરવું હોય તો તેમને આદર્શ વાતાવરણ, બિનશરતી પ્રેમ, ખુલ્લાં હૃદયથી ચાહવાંં, સ્વતંત્રતા આપવી અને બાળકો જેવાં છે તેવાંં જ એમને ચાહવાંં આ સિધ્ધાંતો ફૅસિલિટેટરે દિલમાં ઉતારવા જોઈએ."

“આ કૅમ્પમાં આવ્યા પછી દરેક બાળક ઘર, શાળા, સમાજમાં પોતે આત્મનિર્ભર બનશે, આત્મવિશ્વાસી બનશે જેથી પોતાના વિચારોને બીજા સાથે ખુલીને વહેંચતા શીખશે. દરેક બાળકને ખીલવવાની આખી પ્રોસેસ મને ખૂબ ગમી અને હવે એનો ભાગ બનવામાં પણ મજા આવશે.”

"એક સાચો ફૅસિલિટેટર કેવો હોય એ ટ્રેનિંગ દ્વારા હું સમજી શકી. જેમ, કળીમાંથી ફૂલ બનવાની પ્રક્રિયા આપ મેળે થાય છે; માળી જબરદસ્તીથી કળી ખોલીને ફૂલ ખીલવતો નથી. માત્ર છોડને માટે ઉત્તમ ખાતર, પાણી, તડકા-છાંયડાનું સતત ધ્યાન રાખે છે. તેવી જ રીતે એક સાચા ફૅસિલિટેટરે બાળક ખીલી શકે તેવું વાતાવરણ ઊભું કરી તે બાળક જીવનનાં નિર્ણયો જાતે લઈ શકે તેવી હિંમત આપવાની છે."
