Oasis Leadership Trekking Camp: Misaal Winners at Himalaya!

Exhausting, Tiring, Painful, But

‘If You Don’t Mind, It Doesn’t Matter’
A long & arduous trek to Pindari Glacier through the mighty Himalayas
Right on the feet of the mighty Himalayas, the journey of young leaders began. A sight was as beautiful as it was intimidating. Participants felt the rush as they could see the snow-clad peaks calling to them. With a rock-hard determination, they head on to challenge their fears…

“Trek tested my confidence & endurance,
I didn't give up and crossed the orbit”

When hiking, Determination should be the first word in your dictionary
A small slip can break your bones!

Let's know, what struggles they faced during the trekking!

"23rd May was a big day and was going to take a toll on us physically but we didn’t know that yet. The trek from Khati to Dwali was 11 km but I think that must’ve been a mistake because it felt like forever!! I‘ve never pushed so hard to walk one step as I did from halfway through. I was totally broken at around 8 km and felt done with the day. Then the miraculous formations of Pindar river gushed in through the steady & strong rocks in full force cutting through them, the scene gave me immense mental strength & renewed determination to reach Dwali."
- Rahul Soni
Careful steps towards the goal
તેથી હું હિંમત હારી ગયો હતો પરંતુ હું શીખ્યો હતો કે ‘If You Don’t Mind, It Doesn’t Matter’, તે યાદ આવ્યું એટલે એકદમ જ જોશ આવી ગયો અને મેં ચાલવાની હિંમત કરી.

"There were two options in front of me, either be as strong as the Himalaya or the way I am now. And then I chose to become stronger like Himalaya. I gave promise to Himalaya that I will be stronger than you.”
- Khushi Upadhyay

Pindar River also known as Pindari River is a Himalayan river, which emerges from Pindari Glacier in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. The river has a length of 105 kilometres. Pindar River merges with River Alaknanda at Karnaprayag. The river flows as Alaknanda from there.

“I have some health issues but I tried mental capacity and now I have learnt that physical health and mental health are the most important things in our life. (Somewhere I had given up but at that time using my mental capacity I went ahead on the path.) The second thing is self-love. After a long time, I felt how much I love my self. I am so happy to see this type of love for my life.”
- Vinit Patel
"When we got tired, Guides encouraged us and helped us a lot."

Sharing & learning after the day's trek
The enthusiasm of sharing overcomes the cold
This is how you find out who you are...
"Nature is a tool to get children to experience
not just the wider world, but themselves"
“Most memorable experience in the camp was solitude time. I remember I was sitting on the front right side of the mountain and after a slope, there was a river on the left side with the unforgettable sound of flowing water! It was the best part. Another was, I was sitting alone on a bench and exactly in the front there were glaciers and I was like... its heaven! I was simply watching it for 30 min. it was really great!”
- Avadhi Shah
Exercise time during the trekking
"Overcoming the fear of falling on snow was amazing"
Crossing the steep glaciers in rock-cold atmosphere
What they experienced in snow trekking?

“The most memorable incident was when we were crossing the snow paths. We slipped multiple times due to the narrow path but no one gave up. Every time we slipped, we had more grip when we got back up. That was the most amazing thing. I learnt that the beginning is the most difficult, and if we don’t give up, we can succeed.”
- Ananya M.
