IYLDP (Indian Young Leadership Development Program) - LIFE Classes

LIFE Class Goes Out Of School To Meet Reality Of The World

Students of Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad are interacting with common men in the vicinity of the school, including local vendors, labourers, slumdwellers, etc.

"We Now Promise To Study Well On Their Behalf, To Decrease Their Poverty And To Help Them Realize Their Dreams"

I have started understanding why we should respect them

“We had the opportunity to be able to go out of the school premises and interview those people living around the premises. By getting to know more about their daily life and the hard ships they have to overcome, I have started understanding why we should respect them. It also allowed me to interact socially with those people whom I have seen daily but have never talked to or got to learn about their lifestyle. It was interesting getting to know their dreams.”

~ Priyanshi Sheth, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

It was an inspiration for me

“I met a Chaiwala. Though he was poor, he didn’t indicate any sign of poverty and was happy & satisfied with what he had. It was an inspiration for me.”

~ Shashank Saraogi, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

We waste pages but some children have not seen a book

“We saw the sorrow of others and they were happy with what they have. We want more than what we have. We waste pages but some children have not seen a book till now. We waste food but some of the people can’t afford food. Now I believe my mom why she says not to waste.”

~ Pranjal Jain, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

When I grow, I would surely like to do something for them

“For the first time I had an experience with people who are from the slums. I came to know that my life isn’t worst one; there are people who don’t have shelter, food to eat. What can be worst than this???!!! When I grow, I would surely like to do something that could help people like them.”

~ Swara, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

This was our best experience.

“I went to dress seller. I was able to understand her feelings and I was feeling as if she is my relative and mother to me. She was very happy to know that we wanted to know her and help her out. This was our best experience. Thanks to Life Class.”

~ Niki Thakker, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

I learnt that we should be thankful to our parents

“The best thing about today’s life class was that we were allowed out of the school premises and we were suppose to interview some people who are slightly unprivileged than us. And I learnt that we should be thankful to our parents as they have got us educated because out there, many people are not fortunate enough and don’t have enough money to get educated.”

~ Vedija Dave, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

I enjoyed the most the message to the youths

“I got an opportunity to interview a panwala. The moment I enjoyed the most was the message that the person gave to the youths of India. He wanted the students not to indulge in tobacco & cigarettes!!!”

~ Garima Lodha, Zydus School for Excellence, Ahmedabad

  Editor's Note

Going out of the four walls of schools in order to meet people and getting exposed to the realities of our society has been a very important part of IYLDP & Life Classes. When given a situation with specific purpose youngsters learn to respect others, become sensitive towards society & people, and in turn they step towards becoming contributive citizens. The reflections of the students after their outdoor visits validate the same.

At Oasis Valleys, it’s green, green and lush green all over the land! Oasis Valleys is fast becoming a Biodiversity center - paradise for Nature lover & Environment Educationists; as it has become a home for more than 100 species of trees, many species of medicinal herbs & plants, more than 35 species of birds, countless varieties of insects, creatures and much more.

It gives immense happiness to us that Character Building Institute is taking shape at the center of Oasis Valleys.

~ Robert Heinlein

“Wouldn't it be wonderful if each night before falling asleep we could truthfully say to ourselves, "Today, was I more free than I was yesterday"? Free from fears, free to be uniquely ourselves, free to say what we mean and mean what we say, free to genuinely enjoy and celebrate life. ”
