A Grand Celebration of
Oasis Misaal Honorship Explorers Fellowship (MHE) Completion

In the last week of July, new MHE graduates & young facilitators team, a total of 15 Oasis Youths took off to Bangalore - in a flight, with their own money!

Alongside being an earned honour, The Flight of Independence becomes an apt opportunity for fellows to develop & understand right values of spending their earnings.

Let's delve deeper in this experience filled with new Findings, Fun, Friendship & Freedom...

Taking a vacation by my own money was of course a special experience, but I experienced Independence in more ways than one in this trip.

Imagine spending hours in a modern art museum joyfully, waiting to eat until we reach or chosen restaurant - prioritising quality over hunger, walking for hours & being on the go to cover maximum destinations, 15 people crossing several streets together without a single conflict or accident!  These are not small feats in my opinion. I would have hardly been able to do this had it not been for the years we spent in MHE building mental & emotional independence.

What a wonderfully nourishing experience the trip to Bangalore has been - my perspective of joyful travel is now forever transformed!

As a child, I never imagined that I would take a flight in my life. I took one at the age of 19 years. That too from my own income!

What a grand celebration of my grand journey of MHE.

We explored everything with a spirit of learning. Practical education is ALWAYS interesting. I went to explore Bangalore city but upon returning, I felt that I've explored a lot within!

How natural it is for every state to have their own mother tongue, distinct customs, own unique culture. But this was not normal for me. I loved and was proud only of my own language & the culture of my own state.

When I heard someone speaking a different language, I couldn't hear them. This trip was a blessing for me and changed my paradigms.

Now I can appreciate other people's culture, art, language etc. joyfully.  Now I don't have complaints or feel alienated, instead I try to understand and heartily enjoy their uniqueness.

Bangalore Educational Tour

I understood something unique while visiting all museums, I noticed that all artists have their own language to communicate their emotions, conflicts of the world, etc. through art. I realised that every artist is a very powerful communicator in his/her own way.

When I learn about such things, I feel humbled, become more sensitive & open myself to see this world through new eyes. Because of it, I feel overflowing gratitude for my country & deep pain to do more & more work for humanity.

Earlier whenever I went for a trip, there was always a kind of regret inside me upon returning. Because my focus there was usually on food, clicking pictures etc.

But this Bangalore trip was very unique as I learnt how to plan a trip and how to enjoy each and every thing. We explored music, museums and many other places.

While I saw most people clicking pictures & making reels, I enjoyed storing the memories in my heart for a life time. :)

Vacations for me always meant having fun and chilling-out. This time, I got a perspective to chill-out in a healthy way, which of course made me feel happy.

I often thought it was impossible to really enjoy with values. But when we neither used any bad words nor discussed any cheap topics, and yet enjoyed each other's company - I knew I would always cherish these memories.

The understanding built within me was simple -  "Cheapness was not necessary for 'enjoying', we can healthily enjoy as well!"

I always feel proud when youths of Oasis do something together. Idealistic and yet full of real joy. No showing off or passing time without thinking, no cheap comments or chill-out. Thanks to our mentors Sanjivbhai and Sheebadidi who taught us to enjoy things meaningfully.

It's good to always bring life and friendship in each of our moments - whether it is travelling in bus, visiting modern museums or enjoying local food.

It's a different feeling, as youths, to choose to live & enjoy life uniquely!

Until now, I always travelled with family or with parents' money. I never cared how the trip was planned or how much money was invested. I only demanded for a luxurious stay & comfort.

But after 4 years of journey in MHE, when I took my first flight of 'Independence' I was very concerned and interested in planning, saving money, kicking - off unnecessary comforts etc.

I was eager to understand where each penny was used. It was the first time I planned a trip with such critical thinking and responsibility. It was not just any 'trip' for me but an experience of real Independence.

~ Purva Patel
I enjoyed my first flight of Independence as a participant in 2021 and in 2023, I joined as a facilitator. This trip gave me an opportunity to lead by actions and not words.

Bangalore was a beautiful city with note-worthy museums. We visited couple of 'painting' museums and I learnt to appreciate art like never before. It was a completely practical, educational yet fun trip with traditional idlis & dosas.

Yet another time and rather every time, I learn that a good trip is not about how much more money I spend but about what value I create from each penny I use.

Travelling in metro & using local transport to explore Bangalore
This trip was a heartwarming feeling of community where 15 hearts were in sync to take different, bold & right decisions.

From 15 kms walk a day to not wasting a single second, to choosing to eat only banana instead of unhealthy food etc. All these decisions & the harmony within is a reflection of the MHE process. Where all youths want to live each day/ moment meaningfully & beautifully.

Being a part of the facilitation team, it was also an experience of great synergy & teamwork under senior mentors' guidance.

~ Shailesh Agrawal
In this trip I understood & experienced true friendship. Even though I was yet to fulfil my final financial stage in MHE, all my friends refused to go without me, trusted me and lovingly asked me to join the trip with all of them & senior mentors.

The beauty of this is that throughout the trip I got & experienced everything equally. So grateful to experience such loving friendship at Oasis :)
