We touched 1000 schools in 22 districts of Gujarat, achieving the goals of Oasis Shahastrashala project.
Young Team of Oasis embarked on the journey of finiding Nachiketas across Gujarat in March 2024. Approx. 400 students participated in this competition.
80+ Students from 17 districts of Gujarat attended the 7 days Final Leadership Examination Camp from 25th to 31st July 2024 at Oasis Valleys, Chanod, Gujarat. Total 45 Students were Awarded on 1st August 2024 at Vanijya Bhavan, Vadodara.

Leadership is a virtue of a scholar?!
નચિકેતા પ્રોજેક્ટમાં આચાર્યો દ્વારા મને આ બાબતે અભિનંદન મળ્યા - સારા માર્ક વાળા સારું પરિણામ લાવે તેવા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ બધા શોધે, પણ આ એક પહેલી NGO જોઈ કે જેમને આવા વિદ્યાર્થી નથી જોઈતા. પણ સાચી રીતે જે લીડર હોય અને થઈ શકે એવા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ જોઈએ છે.
આવા પ્રોજેક્ટ થકી સાચા લીડર થઈ શકનાર વિદ્યાર્થીને એક હિંમત મળી રહે છે. જેનાથી સમાજમાં ખૂબ સારું અને સાચી રીતે કામ થાય એ જોવા મળે છે. અને એ જોઈને બીજા પણ સાચા લીડર આગળ આવે છે.

Handful of youths can bring positive change!
When we were discussing the idea of launching Nachiketaproject it was like a dream and a mysterious adventure! We just jumped in it. Indeed it was a very important learning experience of my life.
Searching youths like Nachiketa was not easy, but at the end I agreed that there are youths who are different, and if we groom them they can really change the society positively.
In the whole process, I realised that my team and I too have the qualities like Nachiketa. For searching Nachiketa we require to be Nachiketas first. I am feeling really proud on our entire team for executing this dream like project and make it happen.

Being Nachiketa for India!
When we began Nachiketa Project, we were group of 15 youths. While process was going, we all 15 were hardly in touch with each other. There were very less updates. I was concerned as well as confused because it was our pilot project.
But when we ended entries, we came to know that we had connected with 22 districts & 1000 schools of Gujarat.
Now, whenever someone will ask me that what handful of youths are capable of doing, I will proudly showcase an example that how handful of youths can begin a revolution!

નચિકેતા પ્રોજેક્ટ માટે જ્યારે ડેડીયાપાડા, સાગબારા વિસ્તારમાં વાત કરી ત્યારે વધુ નજીકથી ગામડાની શાળાની પરિસ્થિતિ સમજવાનો મોકો મળ્યો. ત્યાંના આચાર્યો અને શિક્ષકો જે સમસ્યાનો સામનો કરીને પોતાની ફરજ બજાવે છે, તે જોઈને તેમના પ્રત્યેનો આદર ખૂબ વધ્યો અને આદિવાસી વિસ્તારના બાળકો માટે ઓએસિસના કાર્યક્રમો કરવાનો મારો ઈરાદો વધુ મક્કમ થયો.
તેમજ ટીમ સાથે કામ કરીને સિનર્જીનો આ અનુભવ ખૂબ જ સંતોષકારક રહ્યો. 1 અને 1 કેવી રીતે 11 થાય, તે સમજાયું. અમારી આંખમાં એકબીજાની શક્તિ પ્રત્યેનો આદર મારા માટે સૌથી વધુ મુખ્ય અને મહત્ત્વની બાબત હતી.

It was challenging to convince principals to select two students from entire school as per our criteria and do this work with their other responsibilities. At every stage whenever I had difficulty, I was reminding myself that, "I am finding Nachiketa from this society. It's not going to be easy for me and still I will do this. But I will never give up.” If I am deeply convinced for this without any ifs and buts, I know I can touch many hearts!
This selfless work gave me strength to do more. No one of us gave up. We did it!

An attempt to recreate the history!
હું ગામડાની શાળાઓની મુલાકાત માટે ગઈ હતી. આ દરમ્યાન હું બસ, ટ્રેન અને રિક્ષામાં પછાત વર્ગના અને ગરીબ લોકો સાથે મુસાફરી કરતી. જ્યારે જ્યારે હું તેમની બાજુમાં બેસું કે તેમની વાતો સાંભળું, ત્યારે મને હંમેશાં એવું અનુભવાતું કે હું ગાંધીજી તથા સ્વામી વિવેકાનંદ જેવા મહાન લોકોના વિચારોની સંદેશાવાહક છું.
હું સ્વામી વિવેકાનંદનો સંદેશો લઈને શાળામાં જતી હતી અને હકથી ત્યાં નચિકેતાની વાત મૂકતી હતી કે મને નચિકેતા જોઈએ છે, અમે સ્વામી વિવેકાનંદનું સ્વપ્ન સાકાર કરવા ઇચ્છીએ છીએ... આમ, હું આખા દેશની જવાબદારી લઈ રહી હોઉં એવો મને પ્રત્યક્ષ અનુભવ થયો.

What our country needs?
નચિકેતા શોધતી વખતે એક સ્કૂલમાં આપણને વિચારતા કરી દે એવો અનુભવ મને થયો. જ્યારે મેં એક શાળાના આચાર્યને પૂછ્યું કે, અમારે નચિકેતા જેવા યુવાનો જોઈએ છે, જેઓ પ્રામાણિક હોય, દેશની ચિંતા કરતા હોય. ત્યારે આચાર્યે કહ્યું કે આવા બાળકો અમારી શાળામાં નહીં મળે. 500 છોકરાઓમાં પણ તમે નચિકેતા જેવો છોકરો નહીં ઉભો કરી શકો તો આગળ જતા એ બાળકનું શુ થશે? દેશનું શું થશે?
એક શિક્ષક, જેમણે બાળકના ભવિષ્યને ઘડવાની જવાબદારી સ્વીકારી, તેમને સાચી દિશા બતાવવાનું વચન આપ્યું હોય, પણ તેથી ઊંધું, અહીં તો બાળકોને માત્ર “ડફોળ”નું લેબલ જ મળે છે.
શું શાળાઓ માત્ર “ઑફિસર” જ ઘડે છે? આપણા દેશને કોની જરૂર છે? "ઑફિસર”ની કે “નિષ્ઠાવાન અને પ્રામાણિક ઑફિસર”ની?

Blessing to create new identity!
૨૧મી સદીમાં સ્વામી વિવેકાનંદે કલ્પેલ ૧૦૦ નચિકેતા સમાન યુવાનોની (જેમણે નચિકેતા નામ સુદ્ધાં પહેલી વખત સાંભળ્યું હતું) ખોજ ચોક્કસ જ સરળ ન હતી. પરંતુ ઓએસિસે હંમેશાં જિંદગીમાં કશુંક ઊંચું, અશક્ય લાગતું, જીવનને નવા પડાવ પર લઈ જતું જ કરવું એમ શીખવ્યું છે. માટે હૃદયમાં મીઠાં ડર સાથે ઉત્સાહ ભરપૂર હતો. આ પ્રોજેક્ટ થકી કમ સે કમ ૫૦૦-૭૦૦થી પણ વધુ લોકો સાથે સંપર્ક કરવાનો મોકો મળ્યો. જેમાં વાલી, વિદ્યાર્થી, ટ્રસ્ટી, આચાર્ય, શિક્ષકથી લઈ સરકારી ઉચ્ચ અધિકારીઓ પણ સામેલ હતા.
દરેક સાથે મળીને આ પ્રોજેક્ટ પાર પડતા હું પોતાના અંદરના નચિકેતાને શોધી શકી. આ સમગ્ર પ્રોજેક્ટ દરમિયાન મેં એ દરેક કામ કર્યા જે ક્યાંકને ક્યાંક મારા સ્વભાવની વિરુદ્ધ હોઈ મેં ક્યારેય નહોતા કર્યા, તેથી જ નચિકેતા એવોર્ડ્સ પ્રોજેક્ટ મારા માટે સ્વની ખોજ, નવી ઓળખ ઉભી કરવા માટેનું ખૂબ જ સુંદર માધ્યમ બન્યું.

Touching new horizons
જયારે આ પ્રોજેક્ટ લોન્ચ કર્યો ત્યારે મનમાં એક પ્રશ્ન તો હતો જ કે કેવી રીતે શોધીશું આવા નચિકેતા? જે પ્રામાણિક હોય, સોશિયલ મીડિયાની દુનિયામાં તેને પડકારતા હોય, જેનામાં જીવન માટેનો થનગનતો ઉત્સાહ હોય! અને એ પણ આજના યુવાનોમાં! જયારે કામ કરવાનું શરુ કર્યું ત્યારે સમજાયું કે એ અઘરું જરૂર હતું પણ અશક્ય નહોતું.
મને આ વાતની ખાતરી ત્યારે થઈ જયારે પહેલા વિદ્યાર્થીનું ફોર્મ જોયું, જેણે મારી આ વિચારધારાને એક નવી દિશા આપી. મારા માટે આ માત્ર એક પ્રોજેક્ટ નહીં પણ મને બનાવવા આવેલી એક તક હતી, જેણે ડગલે ને પગલે મને ચેલેન્જ કરી. પાંચ મહિનાની આ સફર કંઈક એવી રહી, જ્યાં ઘોર અંધકારમાં એક નાનકડી ટોર્ચથી જાણે હું કોલસાને તારવીને સોનાની પરખ કરી રહી હોઉં.
અંતે જ્યારે સિનિયર માર્ગદર્શકોની આંખોમાં અમારા આ પરાક્રમની ખુશી જોઉં છું, ત્યારે એક ઊંડો સંતોષ અનુભવી રહી છું. અમે આ સ્પર્ધાથી માત્ર નચિકેતા જ નથી શોધી શકયા પણ આખા ગુજરાતમાં નવા સંપર્કો, નવા લોકો, તથા નવી શાળાઓ સાથે સિનિયર માર્ગદર્શકોના સપોર્ટ વગર ગુજરાતને એક નવી દિશા તરફ લઈ જવાની શરૂઆત કરી રહ્યાં છીએ.

“Be the change that you want to see in the world”
ધોળા દિવસે દીવો લઈને નચિકેતા શોધવાની આખી પ્રક્રિયાને પૂરી થતા 5-6 મહિના લાગ્યા હતા. આ સમય દરમ્યાન હું દૃઢપણે અનુભવી શક્યો કે 'એકલા હાથે આ દુનિયામાં પરિવર્તન નથી લાવી શકાતું'. માટે જ સ્વામી વિવેકાનંદ જેવા મહાન વ્યક્તિએ પણ 100 નચિકેતા માંગ્યા હતા.
મારે પણ દુનિયામાં ઘણું પરિવર્તન લાવવું છે માટે નચિકેતા તો જોઈશે. આ પહેલી શોધની મારી સંઘર્ષ યાત્રાના અનુભવથી હું ઘણું શીખ્યો છું, જે ભવિષ્યમાં મારા ધ્યેયમાં મને મદદ કરશે.
હું એ પણ અનુભવી શક્યો કે નચિકેતા ત્યારે જ મળે જયારે હું સતત નચિકેતા બનવા તરફ આગળ ધપતો હોઉં. જેમ કે હું માનતો થયો એકલા હાથે મોટું પરિવર્તન નથી આવતું. માટે ટીમમાં કાર્ય કરવા પોતાના સ્વભાવ વિરુદ્ધ સાહજિક થવાની યાત્રા શરુ કરી. સમગ્ર નચિકેતા પ્રતિયોગિતામાં ટીમમાં મારી અનન્યતાને સાપેક્ષે મને કોઈક ને કોઈક રીતે યોગદાન આપવાનો મોકો મળ્યો જે નમ્ર ભાવે નીભાવવા પ્રયત્ન કર્યો. અહંના ચશ્મા ઉતારી, ટીમના દરેક મિત્રની અનન્યતા ખૂબ નજીકથી જોઈને તેમની પાસેથી પણ શીખી શક્યો.

“You will get what you will search!”
The image of today’s youths is “social media addicted age group”. This is quite depressing regarding the future of India. Also, it’s true to some extend but I realized during “The search of Nachiketas” that there is hope of betterment in our nation and it’s huge!
While evaluation of participants' forms in the first round, (in which they wrote their own examples of their character traits like honesty, courage, selflessness, etc.) sometimes I smiled for their innocence and sometimes, their courage and spark of character strength made me teary.
This experience strengthened my conviction in contribution of youths in nation building. Youths just need the right guidance to channelize their ocean of potential.
